It has neen used contact elements?
It is not fully required but since I include the preload on the screws I prefer to include a separation contact with the corresponding friction value based on the materials of the two bodies, in this case steel-steel.
@@lucmartz It shows no modelling for rods for bolts, right? Otherwise will take too much time, and unstable model, failing to converge.
@@Info-God correct. I use “connectors” which is an idealization using line elements (beam element).

Great feature
I've been thinking about it for last few days for my own project. My part is large enough that it will have infill. I'm sort of thinking that shell elements of just the walls might over predict deformation. While treating the part as being solid and using a solid elements as you have done will under predict deformation. BTW, I like your simulation and appreciate the effort it takes to get the FEA to work sometimes.
@chuckd7177 how large is the part? The idea of run the simulation with shell elements will depend on the thickness, if you can control the setting of the wall thickness on the slicer, I think you can use for simulation a thickness parameter for the 80% of the actual wall thickness. Remember that layer orientation is key.
@@lucmartzMost, almost all, of my work with FEA was with metals. I sort of thought about layer orientation after I wrote my first comment. I'm still thinking about it. I'm new to 3d printing (filament printer) and still learning. There are lots of options in the slicer. I "think" (meaning I have no proof) with infill (lots of options for the type of infill) the part would be stronger (less deformation) than would be predicted by just using the wall thickness as the shell thickness. Maybe I need to figure out how to do a 3 point bending test. :) I could quit guessing then.
@@chuckd7177 first step, get the 3 point bending test then :) don't forget to use non-linear analysis, linear won't work with plastics.
I made to beams one was hollow and the other was solid. I hung weights from the center of each beam and measured the deflection. From the measure deflection of the hollow beam and using the equation for deflection of beam for a three point bending test I calculated the modulus of elasticity for the PLA plastic. The modulus matched fairly well with the value I found on matweb. Using the modulus I calculated from the hollow beam, I calculated the deflection for the solid beam and compared it with the measured value for the solid beam. The measured deflection was about 35% greater than the calculated value. Based on this very limited testing it would better to use shell elements for modeling of printed parts.

skhumbuzo cele great question and the answer is yes! The results are very similar but frame analysis is quicker and at the end if you have aprópiate safety factors it work perfectly

Adam Adam in my experience machining aluminum, it is not going survive much time. I will give a try with brass and upload a new video.

Hi, I have a question. I use Inventor 2017 and I do not have the command Insert End Cap, which I see has appeared in 2020. How do i insert plates at the ends of the profile bars? I want plates of customized dimensions, not from the library. I did this by drawing a part in separate file, placing it in the frame assembly and then it's impossible to constrain it on faces which are cut inclined. It seems to work inserting them with Joint, but it only works edge to edge, with no offset. If I need to offset the edge of the plate from the edge of the inclined fece of the steel bar, I have no option.
How about the method shown in 4:35 ? You can add a perpendicular or angled line, by selecting a plate material that adjust to the dimensions can be used useful for the BOM.
How did you manage to create that sort of pulling force from the top of the frame? I could noticed that you simulate some sort of pulley system.... can you show me how you did it?

I don’t have with me the part anymore, I will be sharing soon another engraving. In any case, it was not beautiful but it is acceptable for my objective.
did you do all that cutting on that on the other part of the aluminum with that same machine???
Johnaton Ince I did the part on a lathe and then created these other features that you see in this video. But! This machine is not suitable for cut aluminum. I don’t recommend this machine for that. I spent the money and I don’t complain, at the end it was for experimentation.

Problems with hard drive
Lucmartz? When i got my acer v3 571g it started showing small dots on the screen.. Like thousands of em! Just like when you are watching something on your tv and got bad signal! Please help
